Happy Holidays?
Oh, I made it to Colorado for anyone who read my last post. I'm even starting to get used to seeing mountains instead of corn fields out the windows.
Well, on to today's post - the controversy on the 'Happy Holidays' trend.
I've heard a steady rumbling lately of people who celebrate Christmas who seem to see a 'trend' of groups/stores/etc. using the 'Happy Holidays' tag versus the more traditional 'Merry Christmas' and find it insulting and somehow a less genuine sentiment.
Bzzzt...try again.
Let's get one thing out of the way right now...Christmas has been a secular holiday in the USA for decades. If you didn't find that a sufficient affront to your Christian beliefs when it happened then your indignation about the 'Happy Holidays' thing rings a bit hollow.
That said, what makes you think that Wal-Mart is selling to only Christians this time of year? As an individual, you have a right, and I feel a duty, to wish people whatever holiday greeting to which you subscribe. Merry Christmas, if you like. Happy Hanukkah is that is your preference. Happy Kwanzaa is certainly expected this time of year. Joyful December...knock yourself out. Groups, companies, and anyone who has an interest to not exclude a group you don't happen to belong to has a duty to come up with something that includes all of us.
In this case, 'Happy Holidays' works just fine.
So lay off and enjoy the season.
Until next time...

Many people in the United States are insane. For example you can see it night after night on television and most of us experience it everyday. The majority of people in the United States are insane today. Our families were good religious people who came to America generations ago to escape religious persecution and were good people and worked hard to help this country but over the years millions of insane people and criminals have come to America and today it is an absolute mess. The trick is trying to stay alive and make a living amongst the insane. It is not easy. We should have closed our borders down generations ago but we kept allowing the insane and the criminals from other countries to come and live here and now America is almost a total disaster. It is unfortunate that we have to struggle day after day trying to live among these insane and criminal people but we do.
Thanks for your input...completely off topic, xenephobic, and not terribly well-thought out, but thanks all the same.
